Upper East Region
One of the two gateways to Ghana from Burkina Faso, the Upper East Region (the other being the Upper West Region) constitute one of the traditional crossroads for the trans-saharan trade routes.Much of the landscape is broad savannah grasslands dotted with the the strange looking Baobab tree, or striking Sahel terrain. In the villages, with their distinctive round & square huts, communal activities go on as they have for generations.
